Day 1 - London to Cologne by First Class rail
We depart St Pancras International by Eurostar for Brussels. Here, we change trains and continue our journey on the high-speed service to Cologne, where we spend two nights at the Grand City Hotel Cologne Centre. (E,D)
Day 2 - Cologne Christmas Markets
You have a free day to enjoy the wonderfully festive atmosphere of Christmas time in Cologne. The city has six markets - each with its own unique character. All offer a special selection of gifts, decorations, arts and crafts aswell as traditional stalls selling sausages, wine and beer. Visit the wonderful floating market held on board MSWappen von Köln, the medieval market at the Chocolate Museum with musicians, acrobats and craftsmen, or the market in Roncalliplatz beneath the Cathedral, which has the biggest Christmas tree in the Rhineland. Days 3-4 - Cologne, Passau and Kehlheim
Leaving Cologne on Day 3 we travel by rail to Passau and transfer by coach to our home for the next four nights, TC Belvedere. The pace of your holiday is set by you alone - you may wish to take part in optional excursions (payable locally), enjoy the facilities on board or simply relax and watch the world drift by. After sailing up the scenic Danube, on Day 4 we arrive in the charming Bavarian town of Kehlheim this afternoon. (Day 3-B,D; Day 4-B,L,D)
Day 5 - Nuremberg
We arrive in Nuremberg, where we moor for the whole day. See the fabulous ramparts which surround the city, and visit the Christkindlmarkt, one of the world's most prestigious and atmospheric Christmas Markets. Its brightly coloured stalls radiate from the Market Square in the Old Town with the unmistakable aromas of Advent in Germany. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Regensburg
This morning we sail towards Regensburg, which boasts one of Europe's best preserved medieval city centres. Free time here allows you to visit the popular Christmas Markets. The one at the old Corn Market has its stalls decked with fir branches, whilst the market at Thurn und Taxis Palace has many local craftsmen making their traditional handicrafts. This evening we sail towards Austria. (B,L,D)
Days 7- 8 - The journey home
Arriving in Passau on Day 7, we disembark and take the train to Mainz, where we overnight at the Inter City Mainz. On Day 8 we go by rail to Cologne and onward to Brussels. Here we connect with the Eurostar service to St Pancras International. (Day 7-B,D; Day 8-B,E)
